Vivid Sydney

In June this year, buildings in Sydney CBD turned on splashes of colours at night for Vivid Sydney.

Sydney Town Hall looked frosty.

The Opera House was quite unrecognisable.

The Sydney skyline was like Disneyland (though I've never been there).

And in the same spirit in Chatswood,

On the mall.

At the Concourse.

At the Chatswood Station.

And the most popular of all was the display on the facade of the Customs House in the CBD -

  1. Very nice night shots. I haven't done night shots since the early years of learning photography. Don't go out much at night, though.

  3. So much easier these days with the ability to boost the ISO and take night photos hand held.

  4. The video with the Big Fish chasing the not so big ones and the Shark breaking through the aquarium - they are light displays, but what about the cleaner who chased away something that came into the show midway - is that for real? what was that?

Nice vivid colours which are easy to the eyes. I hope they can set up a similar act at the Esplanade and Marina Bay area sometime. Haven't seen similar photography with such black background. Thanks for the show. Well done!

  5. They were all part of the projection (or projections) using the building as a screen. Most of the buildings were similarly lit up, including the Opera House where the projection was from across Circular Quay, over the commuting ferries. The lights and colours were not static but changed few times every minute.
