Vivid Sydney

We went into town to view the Vivid Sydney lightshows around the Harbour. I was too lazy to bring along a tripod for my camera, so all the photos were shot handheld but with the ISO setting wound right up. Besides, with the crowd around might have toppled the tripod over.

Link to Vivid Sydney website: Vivid Sydney where there are more and better photos. (This link may be available only until the end of the festival, 10 June 2013)

A new and imaginative use of witch's hats.

There were more lights at the end of the tunnel.

Museum of Contemporary Art in a new light.

Opera House architect Utzon never thought of this use for the "sails".

Sharks not just in the Harbour.

Another view of the Museum of Contemporary Art

Cadman's Cottage in non-traditional lightings.

View from the Overseas Passengers' Terminal.

This view nothing special, lit up in the usual way!

Some city buildings also part of the light show.

Eclipse May 10, 2013

It was not the more exciting of eclipses, certainly not from Sydney. Above was the best we saw at the maximum magnitude when the coverage by the moon was just 27%.  The only point of interest was perhaps the sun spot if one looks closely enough.

Barcelona's Sagrada Familia Revisited

This is a photo and a video clip that I took and had nearly forgotten about it. After our Camino walk in October 2012, we had a brief stopover in Barcelona to catch a flight back to Singapore, just enough time to revisit Gaudi's Sagrada Familia. The last time we were there in 2009 there was still a lot of work to be done. This time, while while works were still being carried out, much of the interior was finsihed and the Basilica was already a full working place of worship. Gaudi would have been pleased after all these years.
